Happy Halloween everyone! Our team says hi with the pic above. How do you think Sociable Soccer would stand out if it had “Scary as F***” instead of “Fast as F***”?
What a fantastic community we have this early on! There are already some people making themselves a name. Check out user Monkeydebris scoring headers in the video: Tibet – the Best a Man Can Get. He got challenged to achieve that with Tibet and did. Amazing!
There are so many other fans to mention, like the guys on the forums, on twitter, on Facebook, on Instagram and on and on.. Just doing a search on Sociable Soccer on Youtube brings up a lot of videos that would make any Community Manager happy in this early phase. Cheers to all your videos guys, and continue scoring while it’s still easy 😉 I’d like to see more goals where it hits the post or bar and then enters the goal. Can you do that? Let’s call it the post or bar challenge.
If you are a perfectionist when it comes to playing the beautiful game – why not take Game Designer Jon Hare’s advice in this Redbull article: 7 Sociable Soccer tips to guide you to victory. That will get you up to date on most of the sociable skills needed to succeed.
If we look back at the first 4 days after the release our target was mostly to eradicate tech problems that made the game crash, we’ve managed that well with the first patches released. If you still get a crash, please report it in the crash thread.
We now have new priorities to work on related to the feedback and our own knowledge, which are mainly tied to the goalkeepers and the general AI. This updating process will be done in steps to achieve the vision we have for the full version. Don’t expect it all to be done in one sitting, but expect progress in the next patch.
Thanks for your support so far and let’s continue together – step by step – towards a game that will give you the best of football in 3 min halves.
/The Sociable Team
While we improve on the goalkeepers and the general AI we would like to get your thoughts on Boss Mode. Go to the “The official suggestions thread” and give us your ideas on how to improve this mode and make it great.
For those of you who have not yet bought the game and don’t know what Boss Mode is – let us explain. In Boss Mode your mission is to steer 10 managers to success. You start with the noob and then you unlock the one by one to get more challenges. Help us with ideas for this mode please!
The new patch being worked on has no release date so far. When it goes into Beta testing we will tell you.
Your CM is back at his desk. Doing what he loves most (getting a bad neck). I had to lock in our lead programmer and force him to do more work at the end of this weekend. It paid off. Have a look.
Changed in this patch:
– Added: Long sleeves for goalkeepers – winter is coming
– Added: Keyboard now assignable as a controller for player (can play controller vs. keyboard for a real handicap)
– Added: Keyboard and 8-directional digital control directions are properly smoothed
– Added: 8-directional arcade controllers & retro joysticks can be used through JoyToKey or similar (details in forums)
– Added: Joystick rumble support
– Added: Option menu toggle for disabling joystick rumble
– Fixed: Directional pad works in menus for all controllers
– Fixed: Ball momentum no longer lost when deflected from post/bar collision
– Fixed: Ball no longer gets stuck on top of goal bar (sorry, tricksters)
– Fixed: Sprint no longer lasts forever (sorry, speed freaks)
We saw many of you suffering from bugs that made it into the first release. Even though it’s Early Access, that’s just not right. We were planning to take it easy on our first weekend after crunch, instead we pushed a patch through.
Things that made it into this build:
Added: dynamic controller assignment; pick controllers before the match
Added: support for Logitech F310 & F710 series of controllers
Added: Clarification for game saving when playing the Boss Mode
Fixed: controller working in menus but not in-game
Fixed: buttons on PS3/PS4 DualShock controllers (circle/square reversed)
Fixed: hotfix for high refresh rate monitors; anything over 60fps had huge slowdown – if still having issues, change to 60 Hz or wait for next updates
Fixed: AI will no longer try to pass to its goal keeper, as this had some horrendous/hilarious results, sorry if you’ll miss it for the comical value
Fixed: sound effect volume setting in the in-game options now works
Fixed: bunch of UI, language and messaging issues
So, there you go. Some are going to remain broken, but fixing everything at once would mean we’d have to delay the update – and I know some of you were looking forward to this weekend.
Keyboard control, Goalie and AI updates are high on our priority list.
We’re glad to announce that we are out on Steam. After almost two years of hard work with a small team we get to share this with you.
Our football game – a game made to give you the best of football in 3 min. Fun, fast, arcade football has come the fans way.
There’s not going to be any BS:ing around here. We know that there are going to be issues, both technical unforeseen ones because of different machines and devices and bugs in the game, so let’s tick them off – together. Every lost customer is a sadness, but this is early access.
We aim to make this Sociable – Together
Our team is already aware of the following problems:
Own goals (+ general suckiness of the AI)
Performance problems (try to default to lower quality settings when starting the game if it runs slow)
Controller problems (controllers working in menus but not in-game, looking at the info and will get back on it in support threads)
We’ve been working non-stop for the last few months getting Sociable Soccer ready for Steam Early Access. Unfortunately we have hit a last minute bump in the road which means that Sociable Soccer will sadly not be released today on Steam.
We can say with confidence, though, that Sociable Soccer will now be coming to Early Access next week. The team is extremely disappointed that you won’t be able to play the game today but feel the wait will be worth it. Please hang in there with us, as we close in on releasing the first chapter of the greatest arcade football action game you’ve ever played.
